Meet Kathy
Kathy will serve as your guide on this mediation journey, facilitating the conversation and reminding parties to breathe. She brings her natural empathy to each session, creating an atmosphere where each party feels heard and respected. Others often describe Kathy as an excellent listener and a calming presence. That is her mediation style in a nutshell.
Kathy litigated for four years after graduating from law school. During her whirlwind litigation career, Kathy took several cases to trial before the State Office of Administrative Hearings, authored multiple appellate briefs and even argued before the Texas Supreme Court. Kathy enjoyed legal analysis and crafting legal arguments, but she always felt that something was missing from litigation—the people at the heart of the case. The law generalizes so that rules can fairly apply to everyone, but in doing so, it flattens out individual needs and stories.
Kathy founded Spotted Owl Mediation to focus on these individual needs and stories. Mediation is a great way for parties to decide what actually works for you! Kathy is so excited to help you on your journey.
